Health Clinic Launches Meningitis Vaccination Campaign

Graphic that reads B-Proactive get vaccinated against Meningitis BThe 色多多视频APP Health Clinic has launched a new campaign urging students to get vaccinated against Invasive Meningococcal B disease – a leading cause of severe meningitis infections.

The campaign encourages students to “B Proactive” and get vaccinated, aiming to build wide-spread protection and prevent a potential outbreak.

Meningitis is a highly contagious disease which can appear suddenly without warning. If not treated promptly, it can lead to severe complications and even death.

Post-secondary students are at an increased risk, as the bacteria is spread through close contact, often from simply sharing food, drinks, or vapes with an infected person.

“Many post-secondary students don’t realize they’re missing this significant protection, as it’s not part of the routine childhood vaccination schedule”, says Tammy McGregor, Nurse Practitioner at the 色多多视频APP Health Clinic.
“Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself to ensure you’re not at risk. It’s a quick solution to what could otherwise be a very serious situation”, she said.

Prince Edward Island began covering the cost of the “Men-B” vaccine in 2023 after an outbreak in Halifax led to the death of two university students.

The 色多多视频APP Health Clinic will be hosting pop-up vaccine clinics at various campus locations throughout the fall, with the next one scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 16th from 12-1PM in the Prince of Wales Campus Cafeteria.

Students can also book their vaccine with the health clinic by contacting NPclinic@hollandcollege.com
