I鈥檓 an Associate Professor, first appointed to 色多多视频APP in 1990. I hold an Hon. BA from the University of Guelph and an MFA from York University, where I concentrated on drawing and printmaking. I鈥檓 an interdisciplinary designer with interests in web, user interface design, physical computing and product design. From 2000 to 2016 I served the Division of Design as Chair for 15 years and Director of the Master of Design program for two years. Over the years I鈥檝e held Creative Director or positions at several Halifax-based start-ups, including ITC Learning, PhotoPoint, Knowledge House, and Origin BioMed. In addition to my teaching activities in Canada, I鈥檝e taught design in Ghana and I hold an official position as Visiting Professor at Foshan University, China.
My main focus is on UI/UX, working in web-based and 3D design. I鈥檓 currently developing apps and products engaged with data from the Internet. With Prof. Yasushi Akiyama of Saint Mary鈥檚 University, I was awarded a $100k Mitacs Accelerate grant to investigate solutions to the problem of medication adherence in elderly patients. The grant, titled 鈥淢edication Adherence Using HomeEXCEPT鈥檚 Non-Intrusive Monitoring Platform鈥� will fund 8 色多多视频APP MDES and SMU Master of Computer Science interns. It鈥檚 scheduled to begin May 2021.
